Promoting gender equality is a key strategic priority for the University of Manchester, demonstrated in our Equality Objectives 2012-2016. The University of Manchester is committed to the Athena Swan Charter with all 15 of our STEMM schools holding an Athena Swan Award (5 Silver and 10 Bronze).

Networks & Groups - University

The School of Physics holds regular Women's Researcher Lunches for female staff.

Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET): A network for all female students, research and academic staff in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Women Professors Network: Brings together female Professors from across the University so they can network and look towards their next career step.

Athena SWAN: Aims to improve the recruitment, retention and progression of women in STEMM academia.

Women in Science Research Network (WISRNet): Brings together historians, archivists and practicing scientists together to understand women's low visibility and historic exclusion, to uncover further avenues for research and to develop strategies to improve the participation of women in science today.

WISE: Promoting female talent in science, engineering and technology from classroom to boardroom.

The Royal Academy of Engineering: Works closely with the WISE (formerly UKRC) who provide information and advisory services to industry, academia, professional institutions, education and
Research Councils within SET professions, whilst supporting women entering and progressing SET careers.

L’Oréal - For Women in Science: L’Oréal-UNESCO’s international programme which recognises the achievements and contributions of exceptional females across the globe, by awarding promising scientists with Fellowships to help further their research.
