The School of Physics and Astronomy recognises that one of its key strengths is the diversity of its staff and students. Through our Equality and Diversity work, we aim to go above and beyond legislative and university requirements and celebrate this rich diversity.

The University aims to anticipate and respond positively to the needs of trans* and gender variant students, staff and alumni, enabling all members of the University to feel welcome, safe, valued and supported in achieving their potential and contributing as a member of the University.

We have put together guidance on Supporting Trans* Staff and Students to raise awareness of this aspect of gender equality and therefore ensure that Trans* staff and students do not suffer discrimination, harassment or victimisation.

The University relaunched the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Staff Network Group in February 2010 with regular newsletters, events and activities and is also a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

We have gender neutral toilets across our campus and an updated map is currently being produced by our Estates Team.
