There is still so much to be learned that could potentially help us understand and treat heart disease more efficiently, that it keeps everyone deeply motivated.
I found that Manchester provides a great balance between quality of studies and career opportunities.
Studying for a PhD
I believe that one of the best aspects of my course is getting the chance to work with people who come from different backgrounds. This results in a very creative and interesting working environment.
A major part of my course involves cooperating with others as part of a group. This has helped me develop skills such as time management, organisation and presentation.
Using the laws of physics to simulate biological systems seemed like a great opportunity for me to apply everything I have learned during my previous studies. There is still so much to be learned that could potentially help us understand and treat heart disease more efficiently, that it keeps everyone deeply motivated.
Working closely with others in such a friendly environment means that after a day of hard work, we can all enjoy a pint at the pub!
As soon as I arrived, I was surprised to find that Manchester is much easier to get to know your way around than I originally thought. I could find anything I needed in a matter of minutes, and while it is one of the biggest cities in the UK, life is not stressful at all.
Outside my course, I have also been a member of the Kung Fu and Latin dancing societies; activities that I had never practised before. There is something new for everyone in Manchester!
Thinking of choosing Physics at Manchester?
I think that by studying at Manchester, I benefit from both acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills that will help me in my future career, as well as living in a beautiful city full of opportunities.
