Entry requirements

Requirements for MPhil and PhD Programme and Bursaries

  1. First or upper second class honours degree in a relevant subject from a British university, or an equivalent qualification.
  2. If English is not the applicants first language, evidence of proficiency in English equivalent to at least IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 570 (with TWE OF 5), CBTOEFL 230 or ibtTOEFL 90 with minimum mark of 22 in each of the test papers.

Requirements for Taught MSc in Photon Science/MEnt Physics and Astronomy (Research)/MSc by Research

  1. Lower second class honours degree in a relevant subject from a British university, or an equivalent qualification.
  2. If English is not the applicant's first language, evidence of proficiency in English equivalent to at least IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 570 (with TWE OF 5.0), CBTOEFL 230 or ibt TOEFL 90 with minimum mark of 22 in each of the test papers.
  3. To be considered for a bursary, candidates will be expected to have at least an upper second class degree from a British university, or an equivalent qualification from an EU university.
