Indian Excellence Scholarships

To celebrate our long tradition of welcoming Indian students, The University of Manchester has created three prestigious scholarships.

  • £80,000 is available over three awards.
  • The highest ranked student will receive £40,000 payable as £10,000 per year, for up to four years of study.
  • Two students will receive awards of £20,000 each payable as £5,000 per year, for up to four years of study.
  • Any Indian student is eligible who can demonstrate excellent levels of attainment while studying the International Baccalaureate or Standard XII.

Three individual scholarships are available. These prestigious Faculty awards will be made on the basis of an applicant’s UCAS form. There is no special interview or extra work commitment involved.

Eligible candidates need to accept an offer as first choice from the University by the end of June and the three successful applicants will be informed of their awards in July, providing them with valuable savings on their studies. Students will need to maintain satisfactory performance during their degree course.

International Excellence Undergraduate Scholarships

The Faculty of Science and Engineering is offering ten scholarships of £2,000 per annum for well-qualified international undergraduate students. The awards will take the form of a scholarship against the tuition fees. These scholarships will be renewed for each year of full-time study at the University, up to a maximum of four years, and will be subject to students' sustained academic performance.

Eligibility and selection:

  • This scheme applies to any undergraduate degree programme within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Manchester.
  • Each scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a student demonstrating high performance in their high school final year examinations (or equivalent) and the academic reference on their UCAS form.
  • Extracurricular activities will also be taken in to account such as contribution to activities in your school or community. This information will be taken from the personal statement included on the UCAS form.
  • All international students who are holding an offer of a place within the Faculty will be automatically considered for a scholarship. There is no additional application.

This scholarship is open to international students only.

The Manchester Bursary

The Manchester Bursary is available to any student who is registered on an eligible undergraduate degree course at The University of Manchester and who has had a full financial assessment carried out by Student Finance. This bursary is additional to the government package of maintenance grants.  This Bursary is only available to UK students.
