Our accelerator physics researchers at Manchester specialise in various aspects of the subject, and participate in a number of international collaborations.
We have seven academic staff, as well as a number of postdoctoral staff and students working on a variety of accelerator projects.
- Rob Appleby
- Will Bertsche
- Darren Graham
- Roger Jones
- Hywel Owen
- Guoxing Xia
Particular areas of focus include:
- collimator design;
- cavity design;
- FFAG design;
- beam dynamics;
- wakefield studies.
Researchers in this area conduct research on high energy colliders and light sources, as well as low energy radioactive ion beams and medical applications.
We’re part of The Cockcroft Institute, and we have strong links with other areas of physics research, including the particle and nuclear physics specialisms, as well as the Dalton Nuclear Institute.
